• Descripción: (R)-3-Hydroxydecanoic acid is a fatty acid that belongs to the group of antimicrobial agents. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of P. aeruginosa in vitro, and to have anti-bacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria. The chemical structure of this compound is similar to that of cyclic lipopeptides, which are known for their antifungal and antibacterial properties. This compound has been shown to inhibit bacterial translocation in vivo, as well as prevent both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria from attaching to the intestinal wall. (R)-3-Hydroxydecanoic acid also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines by human monocytes stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS).
