2-Hydroxy-5-[2-(4-sulfophenyl)diazenyl]benzoic acid is a sulfonic acid that can absorb light. It has been shown to have optical properties that are sensitive to the concentration of the solution. This compound is used in solar cells, as well as photovoltaic devices. 2-Hydroxy-5-[2-(4-sulfophenyl)diazenyl]benzoic acid has also been shown to be an effective antioxidant and can be used in the treatment of eczema, acne, and psoriasis. It is also used for dermatitis and other skin disorders due to its ability to inhibit inflammation.
