3-Hydroxy-7-methoxy-2-naphthoic acid is a medicine that is used in the treatment of mild to moderate acne. It belongs to the group of ionizable drugs and can be administered in two forms: an acidic form with a pH of 4.5 or as a salt with a pH of 7.0. 3-Hydroxy-7-methoxy-2-naphthoic acid has been shown to be effective against Thymelaeaceae bacteria, which are related to the causative agents for diseases such as tuberculosis, leprosy, and tularemia. 3HNMA is not active against nitro compounds and does not have any known side effects on humans.
