Hydrogen chloride methanol solution is an α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist that inhibits bacterial growth, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This compound is an alkanoic acid with water vapor and x-ray diffraction data. It has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against bacteria by binding to the fatty acid in the cell membrane and inhibiting enzyme activity. Hydrogen chloride methanol solution can also be used as a sample preparation agent for ester hydrochloride or hydroxyl group.
