2-Hexylidene cyclopentanone is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CH2=C(CH3)CCO. It is used in toxicology and has anti-cancer properties. 2-Hexylidene cyclopentanone is a colorless liquid that is soluble in water and organic solvents. This compound has been shown to suppress the growth of human cancer cells by inhibiting their ability to replicate DNA, but does not affect normal mammalian cells. 2-Hexylidene cyclopentanone has been shown to have genotoxic activity and may be a sensitizer for skin allergies.
