Descripción:Hydrocortisone 17-propionate is a synthetic corticosteroid that is used to treat inflammation, allergies and asthma. It has a molecular weight of 400. Hydrocortisone 17-propionate is an ester of hydrocortisone and propionic acid. The drug is an alcohol-free formulation that can be applied to the skin or taken orally. This drug has affinity for the cytosolic receptor in human keratinocytes and for the glucocorticoid receptor in the kidney, liver, brain, and other tissues. Hydrocortisone 17-propionate has been shown to suppress inflammatory responses by inhibiting the production of cytokines such as interleukin-1β and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα). This drug also inhibits histamine release from mast cells and basophils.
