Descripción:Hydrocortisone 21-butyrate is a synthetic corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive and antipruritic properties. It is a prodrug of hydrocortisone, which is converted to the active form in the body. Hydrocortisone 21-butyrate binds to the glucocorticoid receptor protein in the cytosol and has been shown to be effective for the treatment of cutaneous tissue inflammation in humans. The drug's affinity for the glucocorticoid receptor is increased by high lipophilicity and decreased by low lipophilicity. Clinical data shows that steady-state concentrations are reached after 3 days of use, suggesting that it has a long half-life.
