Descripción:Midazolam is a benzodiazepine with hypnotic and sedative effects. It is metabolized by cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) to 1'-hydroxy midazolam, which has a short half-life of about 2 hours. Midazolam is used for the treatment of insomnia, seizures, and preoperative anxiety. The drug interacts with other drugs that are inhibitors or inducers of CYP3A4, leading to changes in the pharmacokinetics of the drug. This can lead to an increase or decrease in the concentration of midazolam in blood plasma.
