Descripción:4-Hydroxy triamterene is a natriuretic, which acts by causing the kidneys to excrete sodium. It is used in pharmaceutical preparations, such as tablets and capsules, for the treatment of heart failure, edema, and hypertension. 4-Hydroxy triamterene is an acidic drug that has been shown to increase the glomerular filtration rate in humans. This activity is due to its ability to inhibit the reabsorption of sodium at the level of the kidney tubule. The clinical relevance of this effect has not been established. 4-Hydroxy triamterene can also be administered orally with no significant side effects.
