6-(4-Hydroxyphenyl)hexanoic acid is a natural compound that belongs to the group of estrogens and has been shown to have a high affinity for the estrogen receptor. It can be used in the treatment of estrogen-related diseases, such as breast cancer. 6-(4-Hydroxyphenyl)hexanoic acid has been shown to inhibit the growth of filamentous fungi, such as Aspergillus. This compound's mechanism of action is not well understood, but it may disrupt cell membranes by forming hydrogen bonds with the hydrophobic regions of the membrane. 6-(4-Hydroxyphenyl)hexanoic acid can also be used as an additive in cosmetics and detergents to create non-ionic surfactants that are less toxic than their ionic counterparts.
