Descripción:2-Hydroxypyrimidine HCl is a compound that is soluble in water and has an appearance of white crystals. It can be used as a metal ion chelator, as well as an inhibitor of aldehyde oxidase. 2-Hydroxypyrimidine HCl has been shown to be effective in the treatment of solid tumours and may also be used for the treatment of neoplastic diseases such as leukemia. The compound is cytotoxic and inhibits DNA synthesis, which may lead to cell death. 2-Hydroxypyrimidine HCl also has functional groups that are responsible for its ability to inhibit aldehyde oxidase and 5-aminouracil (5AU).
