Descripción:2-Hydroxyisobutyramide is a synthetic compound that belongs to the group of fatty acid esters. It is a hydration product of 2-hydroxyisobutyrate, which can be derived from butyrate or valerate. The synthesis of this compound has been shown to involve two steps: (1) the reaction of 2-hydroxyisobutyric acid with an organic base and (2) the dehydration of the resulting product with a tertiary amine. This chemical can be used for pharmaceutical purposes, such as as a dosage form for bladder or heart disease treatment. It has also been used in experiments on ventricular myocytes and on bladder cells, where it was shown to have an inhibitory effect on cell growth.
