Descripción:6-Hydroxystigmast-4-en-3-one is a carotenoid with a structure similar to that of beta-carotene. It is found in plants and animals, but is most prevalent in the fat and skin of fish. 6-Hydroxystigmast-4-en-3-one has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against human cancer cells in vitro. This chemical also exhibits antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS) or inhibit lipid peroxidation. 6HSE has been shown to inhibit tyrosinase activity, which may be related to its ability to inhibit the production of melanin by melanocytes.
