3-(Hydroxymethyl)pyridazine is a heterocycle that is used in the synthesis of aminopyridine. It has been shown to catalyze the dismutation of ionised amines and react with nucleophiles. 3-(Hydroxymethyl)pyridazine is an isomeric form of pyridazine, meaning that it has the same molecular formula but a different structural formula. The two forms are thermally stable and can be distinguished by mass spectrometry or by neutralisation techniques. 3-(Hydroxymethyl)pyridazine can be monohydroxylated to give pyridazine. The metastable form of this compound is unstable at room temperature and can be made stable by reacting with potassium hydroxide.
