1-Hydroxy-1-cyclopentanecarboxylic acid is a molecule that is formed through the dehydration and enolate formation of 1-hydroxycyclopentene. It has been shown to be an excellent ligand for metal cations, such as copper(II) and zinc(II). This compound also has a constant formation rate and can be used in mediated transfer reactions. The stereoselectivity of this compound has been determined to be dipositive, meaning there are no stereogenic centers present.
