Descripción

2'-Hydroxybiochanin A is a flavonoid that can be found in plants, such as Alpinia oxyphylla. It has shown to have anti-cancer and antimicrobial properties. 2'-Hydroxybiochanin A is a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme p-hydroxybenzoic acid 4-hydroxylase, which converts p-hydroxybenzoic acid into 4-hydroxybenzoic acid. This prevents the production of taxifolin and retusin, which are two compounds that act as chemopreventive agents against cancer and microbial infection. 2'-Hydoxybiochanin A has also been shown to inhibit chloride channels, which may be beneficial for treating cardiovascular diseases like hypertension.
