Homoisovanillic acid is a monomer used in the production of polymers and copolymers. It can be obtained from the reaction of phenylacetic acid with an initiator such as ethylene oxide. Homoisovanillic acid is a member of the class of carboxylic acids, which are characterized by having two carbon atoms. Homoisovanillic acid has a cross-linked structure that enhances its polymerization properties. This monomer also reacts with metal salts to form crosslinked polymers.
