This product has high yield and can be used as a source for 3-hydroxy-2,4,6-tribromobenzyl alcohol. 3-Hydroxy-2,4,6-tribromobenzyl alcohol is also an important reagent in the synthesis of polymers that are used in the production of paints and coatings.
