Descripción:4-Hydroxypropiophenone is a natural product that has been studied for its potential to reduce bacterial translocation. In vitro assays have shown that 4-hydroxypropiophenone can inhibit the production of bacterial enzymes, such as propionyl coenzyme A carboxylase, which may be responsible for the symptoms seen in sepsis. 4-Hydroxypropiophenone has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by altering their ability to synthesize proteins and DNA. This compound is an analog of methyl ethyl ketone and has been shown to react with acid solutions to form a hydroxyl group and an anion radical scavenging.
