3-Hydroxy-morindone is a dietary supplement that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by blocking the activity of phosphatase. It is also able to inhibit epirubicin, which is an anticancer drug. 3-Hydroxy-morindone has shown antileukemic effects in vitro and in vivo in humans. 3-Hydroxy-morindone can be used as an alternative treatment for those who are resistant to erlotinib or for patients with leukemia or other cancers. This active compound exhibits anti-inflammatory and antiproliferative activities by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, cell lysis, and epidermal growth factor (EGF).
