This active form is protonated and reacts with electron donor molecules, such as hydrogen peroxide, to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) and hydroxyl radicals that cause oxidative damage to the cell membrane, resulting in cell death. 8-Hydroxyquinoline-7-carboxylic Acid has been used for a number of different techniques, including molecular modeling and protonation studies.
