(3aS,7aS)-Octahydro-1H-indole-2-carboxylic acid is an organic molecule that contains a carboxylic acid functional group. It has been shown to interact with anions, such as sulfates and phosphates. In molecular modeling studies, it was found that the conformational properties of (3aS,7aS)-octahydro-1H-indole-2-carboxylic acid are dependent on the pH of the solution. The pH at which the molecule exhibits a conformation favorable for binding to anions is 8.5. The sulfate ion has been observed to form micelles at this pH in the presence of (3aS,7aS)-octahydro-1H-indole-2-carboxylic acid.
