Descripción:Isoxazole is a nitrogenous heterocyclic compound that has three isoxazole rings. It has been shown to be a potent antagonist of the muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in tissue culture and a model system. Isoxazole has also been shown to have potent antitumor activity in vivo. It binds to the receptor site on tumor cells, blocking the effects of acetylcholine. This leads to tumor cell death. Isoxazole has also been shown to reduce diabetic neuropathy in mice by inhibiting the release of nitric oxide from nerve fibers and reducing the release of inflammatory cytokines from macrophages.END>
