1-Isothiocyanato-4-methoxy-2-nitrobenzene (1ITCNM) is a compound that interacts with glutathione. It is used in reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography to separate and quantify glutathione. 1ITCNM has been shown to inhibit the development of heart disease by reversing the changes in lipid metabolism caused by free radicals. It has also been shown to have anti-cancer properties. 1ITCNM binds to the acceptor aminoacetaldehyde and forms an acetylenic hydrogen bond, which inhibits carcinogenesis in the liver.
