4-Iodo-3-nitro-1H-pyrazole is an herbicide that belongs to the class of carbamic acid esters. It inhibits plant growth by blocking photosynthesis and is used agriculturally to control weeds on agricultural crops. 4-Iodo-3-nitro-1H-pyrazole also has been shown to be a potent herbicide against many broadleaf plants, with a half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 0.5 ppm or less. This compound is synthetic and can be synthesized from pyrimidinium chloride and 3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidine in two steps. The first step involves the reaction of pyrimidinium chloride with 3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidine to form 4-(pyrrolidino)-3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrazole as an intermediate product. The
