3H-Imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine-2-thiol is a fluoroalkyl compound that inhibits the production of stomach acid. It is used as an antiulcer drug and to treat peptic ulcers caused by hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, or other acids. 3H-Imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine-2-thiol has also been shown to be effective against Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium that can cause gastritis and peptic ulcers. This drug binds to the bacteria's DNA and prevents its replication. In addition, it may inhibit the growth of other bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus by binding to their DNA. 3H-Imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine-2-thiol has been reported to have both antibacterial and antifungal
