5-Iodo-2-[(3-methyl-4-nitrobenzoyl)amino]benzoic acid is a compound that inhibits the replication of influenza virus. This antiviral drug binds to the viral RNA polymerase subunit and inhibits its activity. It has been shown to be effective against mouse flu in vivo and in vitro, as well as against avian influenza virus in vivo. 5-Iodo-2-[(3-methyl-4-nitrobenzoyl)amino]benzoic acid is a potent inhibitor of influenza virus replication, but does not inhibit the replication of other viruses such as herpes simplex virus or poliovirus.
