4-(1H-Indol-3-yl)pyrimidin-2-amine is a pyrimidine compound that is structurally related to the azole antifungal agent fluconazole. It has shown high cytotoxicity against human cancer cells, and it inhibits the growth of Cryptococcus neoformans by inhibiting glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3). The mutant strain of C. neoformans was found to be resistant to this drug, probably due to its inhibition of GSK3. 4-(1H-Indol-3-yl)pyrimidin-2-amine also has antiinflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activation of NFkappaB.
