Imidazo[4,5-c]pyridine is a heterocyclic aromatic organic compound with a nitrogen atom in the ring. It has been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to those of other imidazoles. Imidazo[4,5-c]pyridine is used as an antimicrobial agent and it has been shown to have antiinflammatory activity and antihypertensive activity. Imidazo[4,5-c]pyridine binds to the PD-L1 protein on the surface of T cells. This binding prevents the PD-L1 from interacting with its ligands (CD80 or CD86), which are required for activation of T cells. This can lead to decreased immune responses against the body's own tissues, including the skin and lungs.
