5-Iodo-N,N-dimethylpyridin-2-amine is a pyridyl derivative with diagnostic properties. It can be used to visualize β-amyloid plaques in autoradiographs and visualizing assays, as well as to detect them with radioactivity using β-amyloid binding assays. 5-Iodo-N,N-dimethylpyridin-2-amine has been shown to have affinity for the cerebral regions of the human brain. This drug has also been shown to have binding activity against benzofuran derivatives that are used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
