1-Isopropoxy-2-nitrobenzene is an organic compound that inhibits the growth of bacteria. It is a substrate for nitroreductase, an enzyme that converts it to 1-isopropoxy-2-nitrobenzene hydrochloride. The compound has been used as a blood pressure medication and to treat inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, but it can also be used to treat autoimmune diseases and reduce inflammation in the body. In addition, 1-isopropoxy-2-nitrobenzene has been shown to have inhibitory effects on proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα).
