It is an inhibitor of acetylcholine metabolism and has been shown to induce lysis in cultured human leukemic cells. L-beta-imidazole lactic acid has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of cancer patients with a specific mutation. This compound inhibits the growth of wild-type strains of cells and blocks biochemical pathways that lead to cell proliferation.
