3-Chloro-1H-indole is a control agent that is used as a solvent and a reagent in organic synthesis. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of mutant enzymes in simulations. 3-Chloro-1H-indole also has anticancer activity, specifically affecting human liver cells. It binds to the active site of hydroxylase, an enzyme that regulates many different metabolic pathways, such as the conversion of cholesterol to bile acids. In addition, 3-chloro-1H-indole has been shown to inhibit the growth of human colon carcinoma cells and fungi. The drug is enantiopure and antifungal agents.
