4-Isopropoxyethoxymethyl-1-hydroxybenzene is a benzyl alcohol derivative that is synthesized by the reaction of 4-isopropoxyethoxymethylbenzene and sodium borohydride. This chemical compound has been used in the synthesis of bisoprolol, a cardioselective β1 adrenergic receptor blocker. It has also been used to synthesize phenolic compounds, such as hydroxybenzaldehyde and vanillin. The reaction time for this compound can be controlled by varying the amount of sodium borohydride used.
