Descripción

Isookanin is a protocatechuic acid derivative, which is found in rhizoma gastrodiae. It has been shown to have potent inhibitory properties against various fungi. Isookanin was able to inhibit the growth of Candida glabrata and other fungi in vitro. The acetate extract of this compound from rhizoma gastrodiae inhibits the activity of target enzymes, such as caspase-3 and caspase-8, that are involved in the development of liver lesions. Isookanin also has protective effects on liver cells and can be used for the treatment of metabolic disorders in humans.
