N-Isopropyl noratropine is a synthetic drug that is used to treat glaucoma. It is a topical ocular hypotensive agent and belongs to the class of drugs called prostaglandin analogues. N-Isopropyl noratropine has been shown to be effective in lowering intraocular pressure when applied topically. This compound can be synthesized by reacting 1-isopropyltetrahydro-2,5-dimethoxybenzene with trifluoroacetic acid in the presence of an ultraviolet (uv) light source. The synthesis of N-Isopropyl noratropine is conducted using a chromatographic method, and it can be purified using reversed-phase chromatography and an uv detector. The purity of this drug substance can be assessed using parameters such as regression and recoveries.
