Itopride N-oxide is a drug which is used orally as a medicine to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease, also known as GERD. Itopride N-oxide is metabolized primarily by oxidation of the nitrogen atom in the pyridine ring and subsequent conjugation with glucuronic acid. The pharmacokinetics of itopride N-oxide are similar in humans and rats. There are no significant drug interactions reported for itopride N-oxide, although there is a potential for increased plasma concentrations when combined with erythromycin and ketoconazole.
