• Descripción: Indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) that is resistant to biodegradation and has been shown to cause tumors in animal studies. It has high resistance to chemical and biological degradation and can be found in the environment as a result of industrial activities such as coal burning. Indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene can be detected by fluorescence detector. This compound exhibits enzyme activities that are associated with tumorigenesis. Indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene emissions were found to be linear with time when exposed to chronic levels of PAHs. The dry weight of animals exposed to this compound was significantly higher than control animals after a certain period of exposure. Indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene is used as a model system for cancer research and has been used as an analytical method for naphthalene.
