1-Indanol is an organic compound that belongs to the class of organic compounds called ketones. It is a colorless liquid with a characteristic odor, which is often used in perfumes and flavoring agents. It is also used as a solvent for nitrocellulose coatings. 1-Indanol has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of prostaglandins. This compound also has been shown to function as a substrate for some enzymes, such as those involved in the oxidation of sugars or the metabolism of glucose. In addition, 1-indanol can be dehydrated into an alcohol group with the release of water and heat.
