Interleukin-2 is used as an active form of therapy for patients with renal cell cancer or autoimmune diseases. In addition to its immune stimulating effects, it has potent antitumor activity. Interleukin-2 can also be used in combination with other drugs such as interferon alfa-2b to treat AIDS patients.
