4-Iodobenzenesulphonamide is a drug with antifungal and anticancer activity. The compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro. It also has an antifungal effect in vitro, which is most likely due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of ergosterol, a component of the cell membrane. 4-Iodobenzenesulphonamide may be used for the treatment of cervical cancer and vulvovaginal candidiasis. This drug does not show any serious side effects, but it has been shown to have some adverse effects on liver function tests and red blood cells.
