Descripción:4-Iodo-2-methylphenol is an antiobesity drug that is a synthetic derivative of 4-iodoaniline. It has been shown to bind to the receptor y181c, which is found on the surface of fat cells. The ligand, which is a specific chemical structure that binds to this receptor, may be able to block the uptake of lipids by fat cells, thereby reducing body weight and cholesterol levels. 4-Iodo-2-methylphenol also has sulfide groups that make it more soluble in water than other similar drugs. This makes it more easily absorbed into the bloodstream and may allow for lower doses. 4-Iodo-2-methylphenol also has an affinity for naphthalene, which may be useful in removing toxic chemicals from the environment.
