Isotoosendanin is an atractylodes extract from the Chinese medicine preparation Yuyao Dahuang Tang. It is used to treat deficiency type pancreatitis and other diseases that are caused by environmental pollution. Isotoosendanin is a mixture of various chemical compounds, including carthamus tinctorius (yellow dye), which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in animals. The pharmacokinetics of this compound has been studied in rats, which showed that it had a low systemic clearance and a long half-life.
