Descripción

Isoforskolin is a medication that has been shown to be effective in treating chronic cough. It is an extract from the plant Peucedanum root and has been shown to have a positive effect on the release of histamine, which is the chemical that causes inflammation in the respiratory system. Isoforskolin has also been shown to reduce oxidative stress, which may be due to its ability to inhibit COX-2 and 5-LOX, two enzymes involved in the production of inflammatory prostaglandins. This drug has also been shown to increase levels of colony-stimulating factor (CSF), a protein that stimulates white blood cells, including macrophages. Isoforskolin effectively inhibits the expression of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) on human macrophages and prevents injury caused by oxidized LDL cholesterol.
