N-Isopropylphthalimide is a triazine that has been used as a component of sunscreen products. It is often used in the synthesis of phthalimides, amides, and particle systems. N-Isopropylphthalimide reacts with carbonyl groups to form an amide. It can be used as a synthetic intermediate for other compounds and has been shown to have anticancer activity in human cervical carcinoma cells. N-Isopropylphthalimide also reacts with benzoates or trifluoroacetic acid to form esters or salts, respectively. This chemical is soluble in organic solvents such as acetone and ethyl acetate.
