4-Isobutylphenyl-4'-methylphenyliodonium hexafluorophosphate is a reactive monomer that belongs to a class of cycloaliphatic compounds. It is used as a gelation agent and viscosity modifier in large quantities, and can be found in the toolbox of any polymer chemist. 4-Isobutylphenyl-4'-methylphenyliodonium hexafluorophosphate reacts with amines to initiate cationic polymerization and has been shown to act as a model system for polymerization mechanisms.
