Descripción

DL-Kawain is a natural compound that is found in the fruit of the kava plant. It is a potent inducer of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. DL-Kawain has also been shown to have an effect on 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) concentrations in rats and neuronal death. In addition, DL-Kawain has been shown to interact with other pharmaceuticals and can be found in wastewater.
DL-Kawain has also been known to inhibit the growth of infectious bacteria such as E coli, Salmonella enterica, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Helicobacter pylori. DL-Kawain inhibits these bacteria by binding to response elements on their DNA, preventing transcription and replication.
