Descripción:Lawsone is a redox active compound that has been shown to induce genotoxic effects in a model system. Lawsone has also been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against HL-60 cells and other oral pathogens. The biological properties of lawsone are due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with p-hydroxybenzoic acid, which allows it to disrupt the mitochondrial membrane potential and induce the release of cytochrome c from mitochondria.
