This molecule is an acid with a pKa of 2.6, which means that it can exist as either a D or L form at pH values less than 2.6. The D form is more stable and has greater solubility in water than the L form. H-Lys-Tyr-Ser-OH stabilizes the conformation of erythromycin and other antibiotics by binding to Murein, which is the cell wall component responsible for conferring resistance to these drugs.
