Lavendustin B is a natural product that inhibits the enzyme acetyl-coA carboxylase, which is involved in the synthesis of fatty acids. Lavendustin B has been shown to be effective in treating neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect on cells by inhibiting the production of inflammatory cytokines and neurotrophic factors. Lavendustin B has been shown to inhibit the production of mucin, a protein that helps protect against gastrointestinal infections, by inhibiting the transcription of mucin genes. This compound also inhibits collagen gel contraction, which may be due to its ability to act as a receptor for collagen proteins.
